ELO Project Title: Support the Development of Innovation Hubs in Colombia

Project Description

This student will work closely with the project lead, our team in Colombia, and innovation hub managers to support the development of two innovation hubs in Antioquia, Colombia that provide support to groups of artisanal miners as they establish alternative employment opportunities, primarily in the food sector. Activities: The student work will include support on the following:

  • Literature review of cooperatives comprised of informal sector workers
  • Creation and virtual presentation of a study on economic opportunities in the region, which will be provided to the mayor and other municipal workers, private sector stakeholders, and small-scale miners in one of the two regions
  • Design and development of the hub, including working directly with the hub managers

Compensation

Stipend up to $1,900 or credit with an expectation that the student will spend between 80-140 hours on the project over the course of the semester.
