Emily is a co-instructor of the D-Lab class Design for Scale. She brings to her teaching experience in human-centered design, product development, and sustainable social enterprise development.
Her first experience at D-Lab was in 2016 when she took the class D-Lab: Design, and started working with a team of students on an ambulance project in partnership with an NGO in Tanzania. That class project grew into The Okoa Project, a nonprofit she co-founded and for which she currently serves as CEO. The Okoa Project works with communities around the world to build ambulances in areas where emergency transportation systems are needed.
Emily holds a bachelor of science degree from MIT in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration on global product development. Outside of work and teaching, Emily loves to paint, hike, and play volleyball.
