Compensation: Paid ($13.50/hr) or credit (Note: MIT undergraduate students who received their ELO guarantee in Fall 2020 or IAP 2021 are not eligible for financial compensation Spring 2021)

Location: Mix of on-campus (Cambridge) and remote

Project Description

The student will work directly and independently with Shop Manager to design, manufacture, and test wooden pumps that can be manufactured with typical MIT makerspace tools meeting spec for pressure, throughput, and ease of manufacture & safe operation. Testing will be done with water. Full implementation may be possible off-campus summer `21. Expected toolkit includes Solidworks cad package, Fusion 360 for CAM, cnc router, & possibly ANSYS simulation software.

Compensation

This is a paid UROP opportunity at $13.50/hour with an expectation that the student will spend between 80-140 hours on the project over the course of the semester.
