Compensation: Paid ($13.50/hr) or credit (Note: MIT undergraduate students who received their ELO guarantee in Fall 2020 or IAP 2021 are not eligible for financial compensation Spring 2021.)

Project Description

The student will work to complete the archive of MIT D-Lab student class projects and fieldwork over D-Lab's 18-year history.

This will entail "forensic" research through D-Lab archival information in Salesforce, on DropBox, and in individual current and former staff member's files, and may entail contact and/or interviews with current and past instructors and trip leaders. The student will enter all information not currently included in D-Lab's Salesforce database.

Additional projects tracing outcomes of D-Lab student projects not currently recorded in D-Lab archives, and work analyzing trends and producing a narrative report characterizing D-Lab student work optional during fall semester or as part of a continued engagement in Spring 2021/

Prerequisites

  • A strong interest in learning more about MIT D-Lab's mission to work with people around the world to develop and advance collaborative approaches and practical solutions to global poverty challenges.
  • A strong interest in documenting the work of MIT students who have made a difference in under-resourced communities around the world.
  • Experience with D-Lab as a student or UROP useful but not required.
  • Candidate should be both detail oriented and personable.

Compensation

MIT undergraduate students who did not receive their ELO guarantee in Fall 2020 or IAP 2021 are eligible for compensation under this project for Spring 2021 at $13.50/hour with an expectation that the student will spend between 80-140 hours on the project over the course of the semester. Credit may be available.
