Summer 2025 - APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 2

Advancing Water Treatment Systems for Sustainable Aquaculture

Main Objective of this UROP: Keo Fish Farms is partnering with MIT D-Lab to improve water filtration techniques for aquaculture operations. This collaboration aims to develop practical, cost-effective, and scalable filtration solutions that enhance water quality, reduce waste, and promote sustainability in fish farming.

The project will focus on optimizing water filtration processes, particularly in the removal of iron and organic matter from aquaculture systems without the use of chemicals. The research will explore innovative filtration methods, material selection, and system design tailored to Keo Fish Farms’ unique environmental and operational conditions. Mapping of innovation opportunities to address global poverty challenges in strategic sectors

Main Objective of this UROP: Identify innovation opportunities in energy, agriculture, food security, health, water testing, and/or other strategic topics

Through this research, the UROP will identify challenges in the fields of off-grid energy, agriculture, food security, health, water testing, and/or other strategic topics of interest in development and humanitarian contexts (especially in the countries where D-Lab works); document existing solutions; and identify technology development and innovation opportunities. This research will help D-Lab identify new areas of research that are aligned with its strategic priorities. Read more and apply by April 2
