Rural poverty rates in Zambia have remained above 75% for more than three decades. The 3.5 million farmers included in this rural populace face a fundamental problem of access: to knowledge, to technologies, to markets, to better livelihoods. Zasaka [now Good Nature Agro] works with farmers to confront this old problem by realigning the incentives of farmers, extension agents, and agri-business to create a new paradigm where farmers have access to abundant information, progressive cropping strategies are the norm, innovative appropriate technologies are developed for farmers by farmers, and all parties work together to better the system for future generations.
